Article DetailsDetailsHelp DetailsOGM is being gradually phased out but only for cases where Spring Data Neo4j (SDN) is being used as well. This means that if one were to use SDN, then the last supported version would be Neo4j-OGM 3.2.x, to be used in conjunction with SDN 5.3.x. After this release, an upgrade to SDN 6+ would be needed, which would also alleviate the need for a separate OGM module since SDN6 has OGM capabilities built-in. OGM 3.2.x will be supported for as long as Neo4j 4.4 is supported (i.e. until June 2025) which should allow some time to plan and upgrade projects as necessary. Neo4j 5 will be promoted to LTS (long-term support) around mid-2024, which will allow a further one year to upgrade to the next LTS version. The recently released Neo4j-OGM 4.x has compatibility and support for Neo4j 5.x however our documented version compatibility matrix will continue to provide up to date compatibility status. From the linked compatibility matrix, note that OGM version 4.0.x has a dependency on the Neo4j Java driver (one can only use 5.0.0+ drivers) and the driver itself has a dependency on the Java version (Java 17), even on the client side. OGM 4.0.x may theoretically be used with Neo4j 4.4.x, however the drivers need to be 5.0.0+. OGM however, is planned to be supported as long as it is used as standalone and not as part of a SDN/OGM deployment. For future use of SDN, it is therefore advised is to switch straight to SDN 6+ and bypass having OGM as a separate component.
